MEET CO-OWNERS JAY AND AMY JENKINS
About Jay
Our owner, Jay Jenkins, is a third generation master plumber and HVAC tech with 25 years of experience. Jay began his career back in 1992, when he started working for his father and grandfather, who operated a large mechanical company in Pennsylvania.
After quickly completing his apprenticeship and after attaining his master plumbing and HVAC licensing in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, he began managing large commercial jobs.
Jay has completed many jobs over the last 25 years including hotels, supermarkets, medical facilities, churches, gas stations, apartment buildings, restaurants as well as residential custom projects.
In addition to plumbing and HVAC, Jay is also a certified ASSE 6010 medical gas piping contractor who is qualified to install medical gas piping in any facility.
After moving to Sussex County, Delaware in 2004, Jay realized the need for a quality water treatment contractor in the area so he took his training to another level spending 2 weeks in Columbus Ohio where he was certified through the water quality association of America as a level 1 water treatment system designer and installer.
From small residential repairs to new commercial plumbing and HVAC projects we have you covered at Jenkins Plumbing and Mechanical. Let us use our years of experience and knowledge to help you with your plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, well pump or medical gas repair or installation.

About Amy
Behind every great business, there’s someone who keeps the wheels turning, the communication flowing, and the heart of the company grounded. For Jenkins Plumbing & Mechanical, that person is Amy.
Although Amy officially stepped into a full‑time role in May 2025, she has been a quiet force behind the scenes for as long as Jay has been in business. From the early days of scheduling jobs and helping with paperwork to supporting Jay through every stage of growth, Amy has always been the steady, reliable partner working just out of the spotlight — the person who made sure things got done, even when no one saw it happening.
Amy’s professional background is as diverse as it is impressive. Over the years, she has worn many hats, gaining experience in:
Banking, where she developed a sharp eye for detail and financial accuracy
Real estate law, where she strengthened her understanding of contracts, compliance, and client communication
Education, serving as an instructional paraprofessional in the Cape Henlopen School District while their son Brett was in school — a role that showcased her patience, compassion, and ability to support others
Her educational foundation is just as strong. Amy holds a degree in Behavioral Science, a field that may not be her direct job title but influences everything she does. Understanding people — how they think, how they communicate, and what they need — is a skill that translates into every interaction, every customer conversation, and every decision she makes for the business.
She also brings a powerful set of professional certifications to the table, including:
Paralegal Studies Certification
Google Certification
QuickBooks Online Certification
These skills give her the perfect blend of organization, technical knowledge, and administrative strength to run the operational side of the company with confidence and clarity.
As Chief Administrative Officer, Amy oversees the areas that keep the business running smoothly every single day:
Marketing & brand presence
Finance & bookkeeping
Customer communication & care
Scheduling & administrative operations
Her goal is simple: Make sure every customer feels informed, supported, and valued from the moment they contact Jenkins Plumbing & Mechanical.
Amy is the voice behind the messages, the organizer behind the scenes, and the person who ensures that the company’s values — honesty, reliability, and family‑centered service — shine through in every interaction.
Together with Jay, she helps lead a business built on trust, integrity, and genuine care for the community they serve.
